HOW TO BREW THE PERFECT MOKA POT
Step 1 :
MEASURE & GRIND
Start by measuring 15-20g of coffee for your 3-cup Moka pot and grind the beans to a fine consistency, slightly coarser than espresso.
Step 2:
FILL WITH WATER
Next, fill the bottom chamber of the Moka pot with hot water up to the safety valve. Using hot water shortens brewing time and prevents the coffee from tasting burnt.
Step 3:
ADD COFFEE GROUNDS
Place the coffee grounds into the coffee basket, ensuring it’s filled evenly without pressing or tamping the grounds. This allows for optimal water flow during extraction.
Step 4:
ASSEMBLE & HEAT
Carefully screw the top and bottom chambers of the Moka pot together. Place the pot on the stove over medium heat and let it brew.
Step 5:
WATCH FOR EXTRACTION
As the water heats, it will rise through the coffee and fill the upper chamber. You want to see a smooth extraction, so if you see gurgling, remove it from the heat until the extraction flow is smooth again, then place it back on the heat. Once you hear a dry gurgling sound, the brewing process is complete.
Step 6:
Remove & Serve
When the coffee is fully brewed, and the sputtering begins, remove the Moka pot from the heat. Pour the coffee immediately into your cup and enjoy your rich, espresso-like brew.
Note: For larger Moka pots, see the measurements and guidelines provided above.
